A voice shook Kurt back to reality and he looked around and the three people in the room were staring at him. Rachel and Adam were looking with concern, while Santana was looking with amusement.
“Kurt, are you okay?” Adam asked and it was only then that Kurt realized he was crying. Suddenly the arm around his shoulders didn’t feel right and the body he was leaning against didn’t smell right and the comforting voice didn’t sound right.
“Of course he’s not okay,” came Santana’s voice. “He was obviously thinking about Blaine. You know, they used to go on and on about how they were going to dance to that song at their wedding.”
“Santana stop!” Rachel glared at her, but she only smirked.
“Oh come one. We all know that this break up is only temporary.”
“You don’t have to be so rude, Santana,” Rachel said, while Adam remained quiet.
Kurt stood up causing everyone to stop and look at him.
“I’m sorry. I just-please excuse me,” Kurt quietly spoke. Then he turned to Adam and choked out, “I-I’m sorry.”
They looked at each other then and neither spoke, but they both knew that this would never work out. Not when Kurt was completely head over heels in love with somebody else.
Adam gave Kurt a small smile and nodded his head saying that he understood. Kurt gave a teary smile in return and headed off to lock himself in the bathroom. He closed the toilet seat lid to sit down and pulled out his phone.
“Hello!” came the cheery voice at the other end.
The sound only made Kurt let out a choked off sob.
“Kurt, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Did Adam-?”
“No,” Kurt cut him off. “Adam didn’t do anything. He’s great.”
“Then what’s the matter?”
Kurt inhaled sharply before responding in a near whisper, “We’re watching Moulin Rouge.”
“Oh,” was all Blaine said in reply because he knew exactly what had caused Kurt to cry. Blaine couldn’t even watch that movie anymore since they broke up.
“We were supposed to dance to Come What May at our wedding. We were supposed to get married, Blaine,” Kurt was sobbing now.
“I know. I know. I’m sorry.” Tears had begun to fall down Blaine’s face as well.
There was a few moments of silence where they were just listening to the other’s breathing and quiet sobs before Kurt spoke again, “I still want that.”
“You do?” Blaine asked cautiously.
“Yes,” Kurt breathed out. “All I want is you.”
A couple of seconds and then, “So what do we do now?”
Kurt sighed. “I don’t know.”
“I love you, Kurt. So much.”
The way Kurt’s stomach swooped let him know that he was making the right decision. No other boy would ever make him feel like Blaine Anderson does.
“I love you too.
